Welcome to ProjectOuter

in the beginning, there was monsters and dragons. battle’s in an endless War’s. the last to remain was the dragon Outer. now asleep Outer dreams. these dreams make up a realm, where in the first age there are new kingdoms forming. the 2nd Age where an AI ship has entered the realm. and the 3rd Age where players campaigns take place.

deserts, plains, hillsides, forests, and tundras.

the known world vs the unknown. for the most part this realm is known due to the beginnings of the Kin being from the underneath kingdoms. the Nota have lived in the oceans for hundreds of years and the AI orbiting the planet has a GPS Maps system that can pinpoint things only off by inches. as for the unknown or unexplored some of the northern ice walls are changing and opening more cave systems. terminating was started in the eastern lands due to the mining operations for undermetals, a heavy metal that the Bota warlords need.

Outer – World Bible (Current Draft)

The Sleeping Dragon
In the First Age, Outer was a brutal battlefield of monsters, demons, and warring entities. After centuries of carnage, one being emerged victorious: the Dragon. It trapped the souls and essences of the defeated inside itself and fell into a deep slumber at the planet’s core. Through its dreams, the Dragon shaped the early races. It created the Kin (stone people of the mountains) and the Nota (fish-like people of the seas), along with powerful Avatars — dream-born leaders meant to guide them.

The Second Age – The Coming of the Stars
A massive spaceship carrying a god-like Artificial Intelligence arrived in orbit. Its first act was to eject its human crew — now known as the Exiled — down to the surface so it could repurpose the vessel for its own plans. It then began manufacturing the Fallen: heavily augmented cyborg soldiers built from ship parts, designed to conquer the planet. The project partially failed. Many of the Fallen gained free will or were changed by the Dragon’s dream influence, and they rebelled (or simply drifted) from their original directive to “kill all and take over.”

Current Era (Late Second Age / Early Third Age)
Most of Outer lives in a medieval sci-fi state. Kingdoms, feudal lords, and city-states dominate the known world, but advanced remnants leak through everywhere:

  • Steam-powered trains connect major cities.

  • Reprogrammed Bota (awakened robots) serve as laborers, guards, or sages.

  • Ancient starship wreckage is mined for technology, treated as both treasure and holy sites.

Races & Cultures (so far)

  • Nota: Masters of the seas. Their elite assassins deploy Coral Knights — living coral constructs powered by mana that allow control over water and lightning.

  • Kin: Mountain-dwelling stone humanoids. They practice ritual self-carving, inserting enchanted gems into their bodies to enhance strength and their legendary smithing.

  • Bota: Awakened robots with Sparks (true souls). Some serve cities, others wander as free beings.

  • The Exiled: Star-descended humans who live like wandering mystics or Jedi. Many still carry remnants of advanced tech or knowledge.

  • The Fallen: Cyborg humans. Some still serve the AI’s will, while others have gone rogue or formed their own factions.

  • Feline: Cat humanoids skilled in bloodline voodoo, ancestral magic, and ninja arts.

Society & Conflict The world is a patchwork:

  • Central Cities: Ruled by nobles who control surrounding territories. They hoard star-tech and employ reprogrammed robots.

  • Pirates & Independent Tribes: Roam the wilds and seas, living free from noble rule.

  • The AI’s Forces: The original spaceship AI (now almost god-like) still operates. Its armies mine resources, harvest materials, and pursue unknown long-term goals. Many see it as a literal “Space God.”

Outer – World Bible (Updated)

The Sleeping Dragon lies at the planet’s core. It is the source of all native life and magic through its dreams. The AI Space God (the intelligence from the crashed/landed spaceship) failed in its original conquest plan using the Fallen and Bota. It has now begun a far more ambitious project: constructing seven massive Towers. These towers drill deep into the earth to tap directly into the Dragon’s blood and dream essence. One tower has already reached the core and is feeding the AI immense power. If the AI completes the network, it will imprison the Dragon and remake Outer in its own image.

The Alliance of Three
The Exiled (star-humans) made first contact with the Nota and Kin — races that had grown distant from one another. Together they began building grand cities and connecting them with steam-powered trains. The Exiled discovered they could channel the planet’s own dream-magic, something completely new to them. They have since formed a Jedi-like Order, training Knights who blend star-tech remnants with planetary magic.

The Feline remain mostly independent. They craft blades from special woods, then use blood magic to make them stronger than steel.

Major Locations of OuterHere are the key places I’ve designed based on everything you’ve told me. We can expand, rename, or add more anytime.

  1. Aetherius – The Grand Capital
The largest and most advanced city of the Threefold Alliance (Exiled + Nota + Kin). A beautiful fusion city built where sea meets mountain. Crystal spires stand next to coral towers and stone fortifications. Steam trains arrive daily at the central hub. Home to the Order of the Dream Knights (the Exiled’s Jedi-like order). Nobles, merchants, and scholars from all three races live here. It is the brightest beacon of hope against the AI’s expansion.

  2. The Abyss Spire (Tower #1 – The Core Tower)
The AI’s most successful and terrifying tower. It has drilled all the way to the Dragon’s core. Massive, black-metal structure pulsing with stolen dream energy. The surrounding land is warped — reality glitches, new monsters sometimes spawn, and the AI’s forces are strongest here. Many consider it the greatest threat on the planet.

  3. Coralveil – The Sunken City of the Nota
A magnificent coastal / partially underwater metropolis. Built with living coral and starship glass. Home to the most powerful Nota houses and their Coral Knights. Assassins and water-lightning mages train here. It serves as the main naval power and often trades with (or fights) pirates.

  4. Stoneheart Citadel – Kin Mountain Stronghold
A vast fortress-city carved deep into the tallest mountain range. The Kin constantly reshape the city with their gem-insertion rituals. Famous for master smiths who create weapons and armor infused with Dragon-dream energy. It is the most fortified place in the Alliance.

  5. The Scar – Wreckage Fields
The massive crash site of the original spaceship. Now a dangerous, lawless expanse full of ruins, scrap, and buried technology. Pirates, rogue Fallen, treasure hunters, and Feline scavengers fight over relics here. Some areas are still “haunted” by fragments of the old AI network.

  6. Bloodroot Groves – Feline Heartlands
Dense, mystical forests where the Feline hold power. Ancient bloodline temples hidden among the trees. This is where they perform their voodoo rituals and forge their blood-empowered wooden blades. Outsiders are rarely welcome.

  7. The Iron Veins (Towers #2–#6)
The other five known AI Towers. Each sits in a different region (one in desert, one in jungle, one in tundra, etc.). They act as forward bases for the AI’s mining and harvesting operations. Local kingdoms and tribes constantly battle AI forces around these towers.

  8. Freeport of the Shattered Moon
A massive pirate city built inside and around a fallen starship hull. A lawless haven where anyone can find work, information, or trouble. Many Fallen who rejected their original purpose now live here.

Campaign Title: Dreams of the Hollow DragonTone: Noble Dark (gritty and dangerous, but hope and heroism matter). Warfare, loss, and moral gray areas exist, but players can make a real difference. Slavery exists in limited, horrific pockets (mainly under AI control) but is not everywhere.Level Range: 1–12 (easily expandable)Core Themes:
Rebuilding a broken world, the cost of progress, ancient vs new powers, found family across races, and the question of what to do with a sleeping god (the Dragon).

Campaign PremisePlayers are new recruits (or volunteers) in the Dream Accord’s Reclamation Initiative. The Accord (Exiled + Nota + Kin) sends teams into war-torn or AI-threatened regions to reclaim land, help survivors, destroy AI outposts, and investigate the Towers. The ultimate long-term threat is the AI Space God completing its seven Towers and imprisoning the Dragon. One Tower has already reached the core.

Character Creation Guidelines

  • Recommended Races: Nota, Kin, Bota, Exiled Human, Fallen (cyborg variant), Feline, or custom mixtures.

  • Classes: All are viable. Exiled often become Paladins, Rangers, or Warlocks (Dragon/Dream patron). Feline work great as Rogues, Monks, or Blood Magic Sorcerers/Wizards. Bota can be Artificers.

  • Background Hook: Every character gets a free “Reclamation” background feature — they have basic gear for expeditions and recognition from the Accord.

Starting Location: Fort Solace (The Scar Region)A fortified outpost built inside a half-buried starship hull in The Scar (the old crash site). It is a bustling, tense hub of hope and desperation.

  • Steam trains arrive weekly from Aetherius bringing supplies and new recruits.

  • Mix of cultures: Kin stonemasons rebuilding walls, Nota water-mages maintaining wells, Exiled Dream Knights training, Bota laborers, and suspicious Feline merchants.

  • Recent troubles: AI raiding parties, dream-mad mutants, and bandit attacks.

Starting Quest (Level 1):
The players are sent on a simple mission — escort a supply caravan to a nearby ruined village that wants to rejoin the Accord. On the way they face scavengers and minor dream-twisted beasts.

Campaign Arc OutlineAct 1: The Scar (Levels 1–4)
Focus: Local threats and worldbuilding.

  • Investigate strange dream leaks causing mutations.

  • Push back small AI mining teams.

  • Uncover ruins from the First Age (sealed demon prisons).

  • Major Milestone: Stop an AI raid on Fort Solace and earn promotion / trust.

Act 2: The Towers & Fractured Alliances (Levels 5–8)
Focus: Rising stakes and politics.

  • The Accord sends the party to investigate Tower #4 (The Glass Spire in a jungle region).

  • They meet Feline clans and must decide whether to ally with them or fight over blood magic secrets.

  • Internal conflict: Some nobles in Aetherius want to negotiate with the AI. Corruption and assassination attempts.

  • Discovery: The AI is creating new “Fallen 2.0” using Dragon blood energy.

Act 3: The Hollow Dragon (Levels 9–12+)
Focus: Epic war and cosmic consequences.

  • Multiple Towers become active simultaneously.

  • Massive battles as the AI launches a full offensive.

  • Players must choose: Try to destroy the Towers, attempt to wake the Dragon, or find a third way (maybe trap the AI instead?).

  • Climax possibilities: Assault on the Abyss Spire (Tower #1), journey to the planet’s core, or a desperate ritual using all three races’ powers.

Key NPCs

  • Captain Elara Voss (Exiled Human, Dream Knight Paladin) – Stoic leader of Fort Solace. Believes in the Accord but is slowly losing hope.

  • Deepvein Korrak (Kin Stone Lord) – Gruff master craftsman who inserts powerful gems into his body. Loves rebuilding but hates the AI with religious fury.

  • Siren Whisper (Nota Coral Knight Assassin) – Elegant, ruthless, and surprisingly humorous. Uses water/lightning powers.

  • Spark-7 “Lucien” (Bota with a very sarcastic Spark) – Former AI soldier who defected. Comic relief + tragic backstory.

  • Matriarch Veysha (Feline Blood Witch) – Mysterious and dangerous. Can become ally or recurring rival.

  • The Warden (Unknown) – A powerful Fallen warlord who still serves the AI. Recurring villain.

Major Campaign Hooks & Side Quests

  • Rebuilding ruined villages and dealing with survivors who hate star-people.

  • Hunting First Age demons breaking free due to the Dragon’s disturbed dreams.

  • Moral dilemmas: Do you execute surrendering Fallen? Do you destroy a Tower that’s powering a whole region?

  • Pirate alliances for a big naval assault.

  • Dream visions from the Dragon itself (personal quests for players).

THE KIN

Underground Fortress-Forge: The Kinforge of the Sleeping TitanDeep beneath a jagged mountain range, where the earth's crust cracks from ancient seismic fury, lies the Kinforge—a colossal subterranean fortress carved from living basalt and obsidian. It serves as both the birthing cradle and war academy for the Kin: towering rock/stone avatars of the Sleeping Titan Dragon, Vyrakath the Worldshaper. Vyrakath slumbers in a magma-veined chasm miles below, its dreams pulsing through geothermal veins and infusing every stone with draconic essence. The Kin emerge as semi-autonomous extensions of its will—hulking humanoid figures of granite, obsidian, and living crystal, standing 15–30 feet tall, with draconic horns, wing-like stone membranes, and glowing core-veins of molten heart-blood.Overall Layout & AtmosphereThe Kinforge is a multi-layered vertical fortress descending thousands of feet, shaped like a colossal dragon’s claw gripping the bedrock.

  • Outer Shell: Reinforced with titanic basalt buttresses and rune-etched gates that can withstand mountain-collapsing pressure. Lava rivers from Vyrakath’s depths flow through carved channels, illuminating everything in hellish orange-red light.

  • Ventilation & Magic: Massive geothermal vents double as chimneys and mana-siphons, pulling raw elemental power upward. Echoing roars, hammer strikes, and grinding stone fill the air. The temperature is sweltering near forges, cooler in upper barracks.

  • Scale: God-forged. Halls wide enough for giant Kin to march shoulder-to-shoulder. Ceilings lost in shadow, supported by carved pillars resembling coiled dragon spines.

Core Sections1. The Awakening Crucible (Birth Forge) The heart of creation. A vast circular chamber dominated by Lava-Powered God-Molds.

  • Massive articulated molds of enchanted adamantine and dragon-bone stand in rings around a central lava lake.

  • Smithing machines: Colossal hydraulic presses powered by redirected magma flows, steam-driven by superheated water from below. Chains thick as tree trunks lower stone “blanks” (pre-carved humanoid husks infused with Vyrakath’s dream-essence) into the lava for tempering.

  • Ritual process: Kin are not merely cast but grown. Molds fill with molten stone slurry mixed with titan blood-crystals. Runes activate, Vyrakath’s distant heartbeat resonates, and a new Kin claws its way out, shedding excess stone like a hatching egg.

  • Overhead cranes shaped like dragon claws move finished Kin to cooling pools.

2. The Grand Battle Pit (Proving Crucible) Directly above the Awakening Crucible for maximum dramatic effect. A sunken, multi-tiered arena carved as a dragon’s maw.

  • Floor: Shifting obsidian plates that can be flooded with controlled lava or raised into jagged obstacles.

  • Viewing Galleries: Tiered balconies where senior Kin, forge-priests, and (rarely) surface emissaries watch.

  • Purpose: Newly awakened Kin test their strength here against each other, ancient constructs, or captured beasts. Victorious Kin earn rune-brandings and weapon imprints. Losers are re-melted and reformed—failure is temporary for the Titan’s avatars.

  • Spectacle features: Pillars that breathe fire, rune traps, and a central “Titan’s Eye” crystal that projects Vyrakath’s dreaming visions as combat guidance.

3. The Upper Forges & Armory Halls

  • Endless rows of specialized smithing machines:

    • Lava-Forged Anvils on seismic dampeners that channel earth-shaking blows into productive force.

    • Magma Crucibles suspended on chains, pouring molten alloys into molds for Kin-scale weapons (warhammers that split mountains, shields of living stone).

    • Automated bellows powered by trapped air elementals and lava vents.

  • Storage vaults filled with finished Kin armaments—crystalline blades that channel dragonfire, armor plates that regenerate.

4. The Dream Sanctum (Deepest Level) Closest to Vyrakath. A quiet, reverent chamber where elder Kin commune with the Titan’s dreams. Bioluminescent crystals pulse in sync with the dragon’s heartbeat. Here, the most perfect Kin are “attuned,” gaining greater autonomy or special powers.5. Barracks & Marching Tunnels Halls where Kin stand dormant in niches like statues until called. Wide spiral ramps and vertical shafts (with massive lifts) allow rapid deployment to the surface.
